Code of Ethics

  1. We are strictly focused on our mission:
    • Providing educational opportunity, health care and nutrition to under privileged children in Sao Roque, Brazil.
    • Maintaining our reputation for integrity and effectiveness
  2. We are committed to being truthful in how we reflect the reality in Sao Roque. We neither minimize nor overstate the human needs of those whom we assist.
  3. We are experienced business people committed to running a healthy non-profit organization, maximizing our financial support and minimizing administrative and overhead expenses.
  4. We will neither sell nor exchange, with any other agency or commercial enterprise, the information of sponsors and contributors on our mailing lists.
  5. Our financial reporting is in accordance with professional standards of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Our independently audited financial statements are available upon request.
  6. We pay no commissions, percentages or finder's fees for any fundraising activity.
  7. We refuse to engage in fundraising methods that are intimidating, harassing or misleading.
  8. We demonstrate respect for the integrity, pride, beliefs and culture of the people whom we serve.
  9. We are governed by a Board of Directors, serving without compensation, operating under bylaws ensuring adequate voting trusteeship, and whose members have no financial or other conflicts of interest. We receive and act upon critical advice from an Advisory board, comprised of prominent experts, in various fields important to the operation of the Stone Flower Foundation.
  10. We are committed to a policy and practice of full public disclosure of all relevant information concerning agency goals, programs, finances and governance.
